Daylight Saving Time and its Effects on our Health

There is a great misunderstanding when it comes to daylight saving time. Each region has certain beliefs surrounding the event, which in total does not add up. The original purpose of daylight saving time is no longer viable in these modern times. What we do nowadays is entirely different from what the event was meant for. These changes to the normal routine and schedule of a day have some severe health effects most people are not aware of.

This is characterized by depression, lethargy, appetite changes, and sleep issues. The main cause is the diminished access to sunlight in the colder seasons. You may also experience headaches as a result of those changes. These shall be much the same as those encountered when you travel through different time zones constantly. The effect shall be most prominently on the hypothalamus of the brain, which is your body's internal clock. As it is feeling those effects, you shall keep getting the headaches.

 

There is also the increased danger of people getting strokes in this period. This is mostly attributed to the rapid changes that the body has to accommodate in such a short period. Then when it has gotten accustomed to the changes, there is a reversal of the conditions. Heart attacks are also another concern. When you have been categorized as at risk of getting a heart attack, you shall be advised to take certain precautions. Chief among them is getting plenty of sleep and avoiding stress. When the daylight saving time issue comes around, maintaining such conditions becomes impossible. Your circadian rhythm shall be interfered with. You will, therefore, release more of the stress hormone. This is a highly dangerous situation in your condition.
